Norwich Museum

Love fonts, newspapers and the history of media? Explore the history of the Norwich Gazette and see the historic printing press and learn the stories of printing 100 years ago and the importance of journalism.

There is so much to explore at this museum with its many buildings.  Explore the barn for agricultural heritage. Learn the history of rural mail delivery (horse buggy included).  Step through the door of the first family home in Norwich and learn about what life was like in this 1 room home.  The main building breaths history, being an original Quaker meeting house. Learn about Quaker life then wander through several immersive exhibits recreating Norwich businesses from more than a century ago. Talk to staff about other historical sites in Norwich area including the African Episcopal Cemetery, Heritage mill and Otterville Museum.

For a more hands-on experience book Churn Back Time and make a batch of homemade butter and enjoy the results slathered on fresh baked bread.

Ingersoll Cheese Museum

Learn about the literary and culinary pairing of Ingersoll poet, James McIntrye. Read his poem the Queen of Cheese and learn about the making of the mammoth cheese (aforementioned "Queen").  Also learn about the accomplishments of his daughter poet and author Kate McIntyre Ruttan. 

The Ingersoll Cheese Museum is home to a replica cheese factory from the early 1900's. Learn about the cheese making process but also explore other local exhibits including the massive wood carving titled Pathway of the Giants. 

Contact the museum to learn when the blacksmith will be on site sharing their craft.  They also provide demonstrations where you make a rope together.

Commonplace Books

Located in Downtown Ingersoll, this bookshop provides a welcoming space where readers can connect, explore new ideas, and build community.  The name Commonplace is inspired by the historical practice of keeping a commonplace book, a personal collection of meaningful quotes, observations, and inspirations. In the same spirit, the bookstore strives to be a place where Oxford County residents can gather, share stories, and discover.

Ingersoll Branch, Oxford County Library

Visit the main branch of the Oxford County Library.  As you walk in the doors pause to admire the massive woodcarving of Thomas Ingersoll made out of one piece of Bass wood, by artist Neil Cox.  You will also see rotating art and heritage exhibits in the display cabinets by the library doors.

Explore the stacks in the library for DIY books, local history and authors in the collection.  This library is also home to a maker space that patrons can book time to use the facilities Sewing machine, Cricut, 3D printer, Bedazzler, Yeti Microphone, ring light and phone stand.    This space is open for Oxford County residents to book a session, and scheduled programming is open to all.

The Oxford County Library operates 14 branches that offer a wide range of programs, including writers' groups, craft clubs, and book clubs. The library also partners with Woodstock Public Library to host the annual Oxford Reads program, which encourages residents and visitors to read and discuss a book selected by patrons. The program concludes with a special theatre-based question-and-answer session featuring the author of the Oxford Reads selection. Nine Light Ink and Press

Step into the creative world of Nine Light Ink & Press, a female-owned printmaking and tattoo studio where artistry and storytelling come together. Browse a collection of hand-carved prints, patches, apparel, greeting cards, and other unique goods created by artist Trish, then explore the studio's micro gallery featuring rotating works by local artists and makers. 

Home to Fresh Pull, an artist run printmaking studio dedicated to the craft of traditional screen printing, this creative space celebrate limited editions, artist proofs, and independent artists. Visitors can also roll up their sleeves and get inky through hands-on screen-printing workshops, making Nine Light Ink & Press a must-visit destination for makers, collectors, and anyone inspired by handcrafted art.

Woodstock Art Gallery

The Woodstock Art Gallery is Oxford County's only public art gallery and a vibrant cultural destination in the heart of downtown Woodstock. Home to a permanent collection of more than 1,900 artworks, the gallery presents rotating exhibitions featuring local, regional, national, and international artists, ensuring there's always something new to discover. Visitors can explore a diverse range of historical and contemporary art while learning about the region's rich artistic heritage.

Printmaking enthusiasts will appreciate the gallery's collection of more than 600 print works, which regularly appear in exhibitions throughout the year. The gallery is also home to a printmaking studio and press, offering occasional hands-on workshops where visitors can learn traditional techniques from experienced instructors.
