The Most Unique PokeStops in Oxford County

Pokemon Go has taken the world by storm and Oxford County is no exception. Who new an augmented reality app could be a great way to see our local tourist attractions? We’ve compiled some of the county’s unique stops as well as nearby places to refuel after catching all those Pokemons!

 1. Woodstock: Downtown Woodstock, The Woodstock Court House & Oxford County Public Health Services Building

Downtown Woodstock
The Woodstock downtown core has loads of Pokemon stops that make it a hot bed for augmented reality. Catch Pokemon outside both the Woodstock Art Gallery and the Woodstock Museum then pop in for a free admission visit. Also catch Pokemon at the Woodstock Museum Square fountain as well as the Market Centre Theatre and the Oxford County Administrative Building.

The Woodstock Court House (Ontario Court of Justice)
The Woodstock Court House and square are full of PokeStops. This is a fantastic stop for history and architect buffs as the building was erected in 1890 and has since become an integral part of local pride for its style.  It's a beautiful spot to hunt for Pokemon.  Be sure to look for the sunflowers and 'monkeys' in the peaks of the building. If you’ve caught all the Pokemons here and want to know more, book a historic walking tour.

Oxford County Public Health Services Building
Perhaps one of the most interesting and unique PokeStops in all of Oxford County, the Oxford County Public Health & Emergency Services Building, is located in an old jail. The PokeStop there is located on one of the building’s exterior entrances (we’ll let you figure out which one) at the site of a death mask. The mask is a cast of Thomas Cook’s deceased face, the first man publicly hanged in Woodstock, ON.
