The City of Woodstock offers all of the services and amenities expected of a medium-sized Canadian city. Woodstock also provides many unexpected surprises. History is preserved not only in Woodstock's Museum and County Courthouse, but also in downtown buildings and beautiful Victorian heritage homes. In fact, Woodstock is the only municipality in all of Ontario to still have all of its magnificent original public buildings. These grand public buildings and Victorian streetscapes have become a destination for visitors taking guided historic walks.

The City  of Woodstock offers a selection of specialty stores and boutiques, retail businesses, two bustling farmers' markets, spacious parks, theatre, art gallery, Canada's Outdoor Farm Show, Cowapolooza and the Woodstock Wood Show. Historic sites, cultural events, variety of dining options and numerous accommodations make Woodstock a popular destination.

While an urban centre, the City of Woodstock is also home to Pittock Conservation Area known for camping, fishing, and being part of Canada's South Coast Birding Trail.  Woodstock also has an extensive trails network and signed cycling routes throughout the city.
