Maid of the Mist
"The Maid of the Mist" is it's name and sits on the south side of Dundas Street, Woodstock. What is it you ask? The fountain! Located right in front of the Woodstock Museum. Andrew Pattullo died in London, England on December 29, 1903 and left $1,000. To the City of Woodstock to purchase a fountain in his memory. On August 25, 1916 the fountain was ordered from J.L. Mott and Company of New York, the price being $1050. It was 16ft and 8inches high, topped by the figure of a woman pouring water from an urn, and had two water pans. It was made of cast iron, assembled, factory finished and shipped to Woodstock by train. On December 4, 1916 the fountain was turned on and tested.
